MicrOmics Technologies Officially Launches Its NanoLC Column Product Line

MicrOmics Technologies is pleased to announce the official launch of our nanoLC column and ESI emitter product line on February 14, 2025.

The choice of LC column and electrospray emitter plays an important role in LC-MS performance, influencing chromatographic resolution, sensitivity, throughput, spray stability, and overall workflow robustness.

Our product line was developed to provide researchers with flexible, high-performance solutions for modern nanoLC-MS and proteomics workflows.

Built on Years of LC-MS and ESI Experience

MicrOmics technology is built on extensive experience in electrospray ionization and low-flow LC-MS.

Our co-founder, Dr. Ryan Kelly, developed the original Stinger Constant-ID Etched-Tip emitter while working at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. This emitter technology helped establish the foundation for the MicrOmics nanoLC column platform.

In the years that followed, development increasingly focused on highly sensitive and low-input proteomics workflows, including applications requiring reliable nanoLC performance at very low flow rates.

The result is a family of nanoLC columns and ESI emitters designed around performance, robustness, flexibility, and ease of integration into modern mass spectrometry workflows.

Key Column and Emitter Design Features

Integrated Emitter Design

Selected MicrOmics columns combine the separation column and electrospray emitter into an integrated configuration, reducing the number of connections in the flow path and simplifying system setup.

Ultra-Smooth Chemically Etched Emitter Surface

MicrOmics uses chemical etching to create a smooth emitter surface designed to support consistent electrospray formation and reliable low-flow operation.

Stable Electrospray Performance

The thin-wall etched-tip design is engineered to reduce surface wetting and support stable electrospray performance across low-flow LC-MS applications.

Low Additional Back Pressure

The emitter design minimizes additional flow resistance while maintaining a small outlet opening, helping support sensitive nanoLC-MS operation.

Polished Inlet Connections

Polished inlet surfaces are designed to improve sealing and help minimize unnecessary dead volume at column connections.

Designed for Modern NanoLC-MS Workflows

MicrOmics nanoLC columns are designed for applications where researchers need to balance sensitivity, chromatographic resolution, throughput, and robustness.

Our column platform supports a range of inner diameters and lengths, giving laboratories the flexibility to select configurations for different sample amounts, gradients, flow rates, and analytical objectives.

Available column formats include multiple inner diameters, including 30, 50, 75, and 150 µm, as well as multiple column lengths and inlet and outlet configurations.

Integrated-emitter configurations are available for researchers looking to simplify the connection between the separation column and electrospray source.

Supporting Proteomics and Low-Input Analysis

The development of the MicrOmics column platform has been closely connected with advances in low-input and highly sensitive proteomics.

As proteomics moves toward smaller sample amounts and increasingly demanding biological applications, LC-MS systems must provide efficient separations while maintaining reliable electrospray performance.

MicrOmics columns were developed with these requirements in mind, providing researchers with additional options for routine nanoLC-MS, high-sensitivity proteomics, metabolomics, and low-input workflows.

A New Chapter for MicrOmics Technologies

The February 14, 2025 launch represents an important milestone for MicrOmics Technologies.

What began with expertise in chemically etched ESI emitters has grown into a broader platform of nanoLC columns, emitters, and related LC-MS technologies.

Our goal is to provide researchers with practical, flexible tools that support sensitive and reliable nanoLC-MS workflows while making column selection and system integration easier.

We look forward to working with researchers around the world and continuing to improve our technologies based on real-world LC-MS applications and customer feedback.
